Werner's four supervised lessons and conversations unlock his Lapidary Workbench permanently.

Beginning
Speak to Werner at Werner's Lab on Stillreach. No earlier Mission or skill level is required. Accepting grants only supervised access; it does not hand over Quartz or open unrestricted training.
Four steps, in order
- Shape one Stone while the first lesson is active. Bring your own Stone; mining, buying or trading for it all work. The supervised lesson consumes one Stone, takes 12 seconds and earns 15 Lapidary XP.
- Return to Werner. Acknowledge the required conversation to receive one Uncut Quartz and open the Quartz lesson together. If you cannot carry his gift, make room and try again; the lesson stays paused.
- Cut one Quartz while that lesson is active: 18 seconds, one Cut Quartz and 75 Lapidary XP. Any Uncut Quartz works, including one you already owned. You may sell, stash or trade the finished piece before returning.
- Return to Werner for the final examination. Completion grants 150 Lapidary XP once and permanently opens unrestricted workbench runs, including quantity and Max.
Permission and progress
Only the current lesson counts. During the Mission, each lesson permits one piece; the bench pauses for Werner's conversation between them. Refreshing or leaving and returning preserves your place. After graduation the workbench remains authorized. See Lapidary for recipes and normal runs.
